Do you suffer from dry skin? It’s a common problem, but for the sufferer, it can be embarrassing, especially if your skin is flaky. Provided your dry skin isn’t caused by an underlying problem, you can adapt your skincare routine to help with skin hydration and a smooth complexion. So, do you think you need to hydrate your skin? Here are some of the ways you can boost your skin’s moisture for a glowing complexion.
#1: Hydrate Your Body
Boosting your skin’s moisture starts from within. It’s really important that you drink plenty of water during the day to help keep your skin plump and stop it from drying out. When you start to feel dehydrated, your lips can become dry and flaky – with your skin following closely behind.
You should be aiming for at least 8 glasses of water a day, but if it’s hot or you’ve been working out, you should think about upping your intake.
#2: Choose Products That Provide Added Hydration
Choosing the right products can make a big difference to your skin’s hydration. Using a serum before you moisturise, for example, can make a big difference. The help to lock-in moisture and help you to achieve better results from your products. Hyaluronic acid is a fantastic product for boosting skin’s moisture, helping it to feel plump and smooth. I especially like The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 Hydration Support Formula.
For those days where your skin is experiencing a lot of dryness, it’s good to have some go-to products in your collection that can deliver effective results. Believe it or not, Dermeze ointment is ideal for soothing dry skin, and you’ll likely already have it at home if you have a baby in the family. Intensive moisturisers and serums are perfect for an instant moisture boost, so make sure you keep some to hand.
#3: Exfoliate
While different products can help prevent skin from drying out, exfoliating can help clear the dry skin that has already appeared. An exfoliating face scrub will renew your skin and leave it feeling smooth, helping to clear the dead skin that can cause oil build up leading to breakouts. You should exfoliate every couple of days to improve your skin’s radiance and leave it feeling extra clean!
#4: Perfect Your Nighttime Routine
Do you have a nighttime skincare routine? If not, perhaps it’s time you started one. The perfect nighttime skincare routine contains products designed to provide overnight skin hydration, leaving your face plump, youthful, and glowing by morning. Keep an eye out for some intensive serums – they really can work miracles whilst you sleep! By the time morning comes, you’ve done a lot of the hard work already, so you can focus on hydrating day creams that will help keep your skin moisturised all day.
If you’re struggling with skin hydration, then it’s important to find a routine that works for you. Going for a facial is an excellent way to get product recommendations and finding something that works for you. Dry skin can be a challenge, but it’s manageable, so make sure you take action to help you enjoy a hydrated, youthful glow.

This is a brill post! Since going on Accutane, my skin has been painfully dry and I’ve had to incorporate way more moisturising products into my routine. I definitely live by a heavy duty night cream and moisturising serums! xx
