There is a vibrant cafe culture in Krakow with trendy hipster coffee shops dotted all over town.Β  Given I am always on the search for good coffee and Instagrammable locations, Krakow stole a piece of my heart.Β  On my recent trip with Be Right Back Travel, I thoroughly enjoyed discovering all the wonderful coffee shops in Krakow.Β  I made many a pit stops to top up my caffeine levels and escape the cold January weather.Β  I am now full to the brim with gorgeous photos and top tips about the coffee scene in Krakow.Β  So I have put together this coffee lovers guide to Krakow to take the leg work out of your trip.Β  Enjoy!

COST OF COFFEE IN KRAKOW

I’m happy to report that a cup of coffee in Krakow is relatively cheap – even in the tourist areas!Β  That being said, Poland is quite a cheap place to visit in comparison to the UK, US or Australia.Β  Of course it depends on your preferred brew as to the price of your coffee.Β  But as a rough guide, you can expect about 8 zΕ‚oty for an espresso and 12 zΕ‚oty for a latte.Β  That’s approximately Β£1.60 and Β£2.30 respectively at the time of publishing this blog post.

TYPES OF COFFEE IN KRAKOW

When travelling overseas it can sometimes be difficult to convey what type of coffee you would like as the terminology can be quite different.Β  However in Krakow they appear to have adopted a very western approach to labeling their coffee.Β  I had no issues ordering a cappuccino, latte or cortado.

MUST TRY COFFEE SHOPS IN KRAKOW

Detailed below is a list of coffee shops which I highly recommend you visit during your time in Krakow.Β  I guarantee you that these cafes will not disappoint.

Cafe Camelot

My favorite cafe in Krakow was Cafe Camelot.Β Β This super cute cafΓ© is a quirky setting with lots of interesting ornaments, flowers, candles and chandeliers.Β  I’m not going to lie – its the perfect place to capture a few photos #4theGram.Β  There were hearts in my coffee and the brew itself was spot on.Β  I ordered the shakshuka for breakfast which left my mouth watering for more.Β  And the small fruit platter to accompany my orange juice was a lovely added touch.

The cafe is located just a short walk from the main square of the Old Town.Β  The exterior is quite unassuming, so keep your eyes peeled for the entrance.

Urban Coffee

Urban Coffee was my first pit stop on arrival in Krakow after checking into my hotel.Β  I had been awake since the early hours of the morning and was DESPERATE for a good coffee.Β  And if their Instagram page was anything to go by, I knew I was in for a treat.

This specialty coffee shop is located in the Jewish Quarter and is a relatively small venue with only a few tables.Β  Β The food on offer was just what I was in the mood for i.e. not too heavy and complicated.Β  I enjoyed a beetroot & walnut hummus grilled sandwich. The coffee was delicious and of course I was impressed by the coffee art presented before me.Β  As they say at Urban Coffee:

Don’t look for love.Β  Look for good coffee.

MAK Bread and Coffee

MAK’s is located at the bottom of the uber trendy hotel, Puro.Β  It’s contemporary design oozes sophistication and its easy to appreciate the attention to detail that has been put into this setting.Β  The cafe was a solid 15 minute walk from Krakow’s Old Town but in my opinion, totally worth it.Β  The cafe / lounge bar is a big open space and would be perfect for a meeting or working quietly for several hours.Β  I opted for a bagel filled with traditional polish sausage and salad.Β  Did you know the bagel originated in the Jewish communities of Poland?Β  I certainly did not.

There were lots of cakes, pastries and breads available to purchase and takeaway.Β  And the coffee I ordered at MAK’s was WOW!Β  Definitely my favourite brew of the trip.

Karma Coffee

I bee lined for Karma Coffee as it started to snow and I was eager to escape the cold.Β  I read a few reviews that mentioned they served exceptional coffee but also that they roasted their own beans.Β  I’ve made a habit recently of purchasing coffee beans on our travels, so I was interested to pick up a bag to take home.Β  Whilst I didn’t eat at Karma Coffee, they offer cakes (including gluten-free and vegan options), tarts, soups and main dishes which are all prepared on site.Β  Karma Coffee is a 5 minute walk from Old Town and appeared to be a a popular hang out for the young, hip people of Krakow.

Blossom Cafe

The morning after my tour with Taste Vodka Krakow, I was in dire need of some coffee and bacon.Β  So I jumped in an Uber and headed for Blossom Cafe.Β  This is located opposite a university and therefore was populated with students and faculty.Β  I loved the industrial style fit out which gave the coffee shop a very trendy vibe.Β  They pride themselves on serving great cakes, pastries and modern cuisine – something which I can attest to.Β  For the coffee lover, there is every type of brewing method available at Blossom Cafe.Β  From Aeropress, drip method to the espresso machine – they have you covered!

Cawa

This coffee haunt is a short walk from the Schindler’s Museum and was recommended to me by my guide from the Delicious Poland Food Tour.Β  It was dark and broody inside which made for the perfect place to enjoy my late afternoon panini and prosecco.Β  I finished up with a cappuccino before heading to the airport, which was equally as good as any of the other coffees I had during my time in Krakow.

Go forth fellow coffee lovers and enjoy your adventure’s in Krakow.Β  I hope that this guide to coffee shops in Krakow has been useful and you are excited to try a few of the cafes.Β  Which one takes your fancy the most?Β  I would love to know.Β  From one coffee lover to another – safe travels.Β  Shell x
