What I Wore – York Ebor Festival 2019

The York Ebor Festival has been a firm fixture on our calendars since arriving in York.  So when York Racecourse asked if I would like to assist them with some fashion content for their Instagram account in the lead up to the Ebor Festival, I jumped at the opportunity.  We have been horse racing enthusiasts for over a decade and have held memberships with several clubs, including York Racecourse.

If you are new here at Wander & Luxe, you might not know that I (almost) won best dressed at York Races last year during the Ebor Festival.  My fabulous prize was an overnight stay at Hotel du Vin, Harrogate and a Distill Your Own Gin Masterclass at the Spirit of Harrogate.

Whilst there was some absolute stellar horse racing over the 4 day festival, there was equally some fabulous fashion to be enjoyed.  For all of the fashionistas, here is a recap on my looks over the 4 days.

Day 1 – Juddmonte International

Ebor Festival York RacesWe started the festival with a casual vibe.  Finding a nice spot on the grassed area of the Clock Tower Enclosure.  We had a great view of the track and finish line, and could enjoy a glass of rose.  My outfit was a laid back picnic vibe, complete with sneakers … strategically chosen so I could do the nursery pickup after the last race.

  • Dress – Jaase from One Palm Studio
  • Sneakers – Jimmy Choo

Day 2 – Darley Yorkshire Oaks & Ladies Day

Ebor Festival York RacesDress to impress is the motto on Ladies Day.  My outfit started with the gorgeous, vibrant pink dress from Closet London.  Once I had the dress I visited George Durdy at her Doncaster studio to select millinery to match.  The accessories and shoes were chosen from pieces I already had in my wardrobe – it is amazing what treasures you can find if you have a proper look.  The beautifully crafted clutch was gifted to me by Maxwell-Scott which had been personalised to include my initials embossed in gold.

In the morning I popped along to Browns York and was treated to having my make-up done by the ladies on the Clinique and Bobbi Brown counters.  It is such a luxury to have your make-up done by someone else and it is one less thing to worry about when getting ready for a day at the races.

Day 3Coolmore Nunthorpe

Ebor Festival York RacesThe weather gods shone down on us and we had a lovely, relaxing Friday at Day 3 of the Ebor Festival.  My dress was from a local online boutique, Watson & White.  Whilst they don’t specialize in occasional wear, I thought this dress was perfect for a fun, summery vibe.  I teamed it with a hat, shoes and bag that I already had in my wardrobe.  To finish the look I bought some very bling earrings from Accessorize to glam it up.

Day 4Sky Bet Ebor

Ebor Festival York RacesThe final hurdle!  Arguably the most fun yet busy day at York Races.  A day to enjoy proper style and proper bubbles.  I recycled a dress that I bought on my honeymoon 5 years ago from French label, Tara Jarmon.  George Durdy was very kind to loan me another hat to match this outfit.  And whilst you unfortunately cannot quite see the earrings from London Designer Sally Lane in the photographs, they were fabulous nonetheless.  The Maxwell-Scott clutch worked perfectly with this outfit, and I love that I can use it as a travel wallet for all of our passports going forward.

And That’s a Wrap

A special mention goes out to all of the sponsors of the Ebor Festival at York Races for a truly wonderful carnival – it is one you should all be proud of.
