It’s officially summer in the UK! And that can only mean one thing – warm days and long nights are here to stay. Therefore its the perfect time to choose your wines for summer. Its no secret that I’m partial to a good wine tasting, so I have teamed up with Independent Wines to bring you 5 outstanding wines for summer. From sparkling rose to dessert wine and everything in-between, you are in for a treat with this list.

#1: Prosecco Superiore DOCG Extra Dry Millesimato 2018
This multiple award winning wine is made in North-East Italy in accordance with strict Prosecco making guidelines. On the palate it is lightweight and dry with bold flavors of emerging fruit. And to smell you will identify delicious flavors of acacia flowers, apple, lemon and grapefruit.
Food Pairing: Welcoming Aperitif, Cheese, Oysters and Cold Pasta
#2: Francone Sparkling Valsellera Rosè Brut NV
This sparkling rose is made by an award winning French wine maker using the classic method (similar to Champagne). The wine, which is made from nebbiolo grapes, is a pale ruby colour. It is dry and fresh with fruity aromas on the nose including raspberries and strawberries.

#3: Weissburgunder Pinot Blanc 2017
A gold medal award winning wine that is perfect for drinking now or can be aged for 3-9 years. It is made in the German dry style of wine called Weissburgunder in one of the highest altitude wine regions in Italy. You will detect distinct notes of melon, pear, ginger, guava and honey – a truly delicious wine for summer.

#4: Amélie Malbec Rosé
Rose all day with this fresh summer wine from France. Its pale pink, fresh and fruity – just like a rose should be! This refreshing yet dry wine will have you tasting summer fruits like raspberries and strawberries.

#5: Siddùra Nùali Passito 2016
A list of wines for summer is not complete without a truly spectacular dessert wine. This particular wine has won multiple gold medals, so you know you are in for a treat. It is made in Sardinia in the traditional Italian passito method and this wine beholds tropical notes of pineapples, apricots, mangoes, peaches and acacia honey. You may wish to age this wine for up to 12 years … if you can wait that long!
