5 Reasons to Enjoy a Winter Sun Holiday in the Maldives

Maldives is the ideal winter sun holiday destination in 2021.  For most of us, 2020 is a year that we would most likely rather forget.  There have been many a challenges and little respite, so we are all overdue for some quality R&R.  And if a UK winter holiday isn’t your cup of tea, then why not consider a winter sun holiday in the Maldives?

Let me show you 5 reasons why the Maldives is the top destination to enjoy some winter sun!

Maldives

#1: UK Travel Corridor

First and foremost, at the time of writing this blog post, Maldives is on the UK travel corridor list.  What does that mean?  Well you can travel to the Maldives without being required to quarantine when you return to England.  It is deemed a low risk country to visit in terms of the pandemic.  However, bear it mind that on arrival to the Maldives you will be required to provide a negative PCR test for COVID-19. This must be issued no more than 96 hours prior to departure.

Note – the travel corridor list is updated regularly so, it is important to keep up-to-date with the situation and obtain appropriate travel insurance when booking your holiday to the Maldives.

#2: Maldives Weather

During the UK winter months, the weather in the Maldives is quite simply divine!  Think high twenties, warm sunny days, balmy nights and very little rainfall.  Personally, I think that is the ideal conditions to enjoy a winter sun holiday.  It will be a stark contrast to the short, cold days in the UK, and will just be what you need to rejuvenate your body and soul.

#3: Family Friendly

Whilst many of you might initially think of the Maldives as a honeymoon destination, it is actually an incredibly family friendly place to travel to.  Many hotels offer family friendly accommodation and activities in the Maldives to keep you entertained.  A lot of places also include kids clubs and baby sitting services.  I don’t know about your family, but we have been craving some serious beach time – and Maldives is the perfect place to do that!  When you are ready to start your research, you are sure to find the perfect family friendly Maldives accommodation on the Voyage Privé website.

#4: Insanely Picturesque

We have all seen the incredible photos of the Maldives landscape and hotels.  It looks like heaven on earth with its pristine white sandy beaches and clear turquoise waters.  Wake up to these views from your overwater bungalow or enjoy a breathtaking sunset on an evening sail.  By day you can snorkel and see all the marvelous sea life under the water.  Or maybe try your hand at stand-up paddle boarding.  One thing is for sure, you will not tire of the serenity of this gorgeous part of the world during your stay.

#5: Easily Accessible From the UK

You can fly directly from Heathrow to Male, with a flight time of approximately 10 hours.  Which, in an Australian’s book, is easily accessible.  As the Maldives is made up of many small islands, it is likely that you will need to access your accommodation via boat or a sea plane.  So make sure that you take this into consideration when choosing your hotel and arranging transfers.  There is a time difference of 5 hours between Maldives and the UK, so whilst jet lag will likely come into play, the sea air should quickly combat it.

So, what do you think? Do you fancy a winter sun holiday in the Maldives?  I think these are pretty convincing reasons, and we sure all need a holiday after the year that was 2020.  We absolutely cannot wait for our next family adventure which is currently planned to be the Maldives.  We are crossing all of our fingers and toes that the stars align and we are able to safely make the journey.  Wish us luck!  Shell x

  1. The Maldives is just awesome. The green islands, white beaches, and blue sea… perfect. Flying on a sea plane over the atolls would be an experience to cherish, surely.
