4 Easy Steps to Wearing Sportswear Everyday

The growing trend of people wearing sportswear in everyday life does not look like it is going anywhere, anytime soon.  This has only been fueled by the pandemic with many people working from home and choosing comfort in their daily style. Sportswear is no longer just for those partaking in exercise!

So, how do you wear activewear everyday and still make it look good? Let me share with you my 4 simple steps to easily incorporate sportswear into your everyday wardrobe!

Disclosure: The clothing products featured in this blog post were gifted to me by Adidas to try at home prior to publishing my blog post.  All opinions are my own.

#1: Build A Sportswear Capsule Wardrobe

The first step to wearing sportswear everyday is to build a reliable capsule wardrobe for yourself.  Whilst bright, colourful and patterned pieces might be fun, will they all match together when it comes to creating an outfit? My advice:

Build a basics / capsule wardrobe of activewear, ensuring that everything matches in the first instance.

This should include staple pieces such as leggings, shorts, shoes, vests, tees and jackets.  Choose a colour scheme that works for you, and build your sportswear capsule wardrobe from there.

#2: Comfort Is Key

When it comes to women’s sportswear, comfort is key!  There is no point in looking fantastic but feeling utterly miserable with a sports bra that is too tight or shoes that rub your feet.  One of the secrets to always looking stylish is being comfortable in your chosen outfit, and this applies whether it is your activewear or your outfit for a day at the races.  Choose pieces that you know you can wear all day without feeling irritated.  Functional, comfortable and stylish pieces is how you can effortlessly wear sportswear everyday.

#3: Invest In Quality Brands

I’m a big believer in investing in quality pieces as opposed to cheap, fast fashion.  And this is no different when it comes to buying sportswear.  If you invest in quality brands and well made pieces, they will serve you well for a long period of time.  At the end of the day, when you calculate the ‘cost per wear‘ of items in your wardrobe, the quality pieces will often come out on top as they have stood the test of time.

There is nothing more frustrating than clothing that ruins in the wash, stitching that comes undone or fabric that starts to pile after a few wears. So, purchase quality brands, like Adidas, and you will have comfort in wearing your sportswear everyday.

#4: Add a Touch of Individuality

Once you have your staple wardrobe all sorted, it makes for the perfect time to have a little fun with your outfit.  So, why not add a bit of personality with some fabulous accessories. This could be anything from your socks, sports bras, t-shirts or even your headwear.  Think a bright pink sports bra, crazy patterned socks or perhaps a really funky beanie during winter.  You will still be looking stylish in your everyday sportswear, but you will be showing off a true sense of self at the same time. Again, fashion is all about expressing oneself through your choice of outfit and accessories.

I hope these 4 easy steps have provided you with some useful insight as to how you can wear sportswear everyday, whilst still feeling comfortable and confident in your outfit choice. So many of us lead very busy lives these days, and therefore it is simply easier to wear something that can serve all purposes for the day. Whether its the school run, brunch with the girls, a Pilates class, running errands or simply working from home – sportswear can be the perfect choice!

  1. I don’t think you’ll be surprised to hear that I own NO sportswear! 🙂 But I was eyeing it up in Sainsbury’s the other day. Not that I want to do any exercise though. I just liked all the patterns! Thanks so much for linking up at #KCACOLS
