#1: Keep an eye out for those pesky mosquitoes

That irritating mosquito buzzing about at night is more than just a bothersome nuisance. In some parts of the world, those little insects are carriers of some very unpleasant diseases, including those that are potentially fatal, such as Zika, malaria, dengue fever, and yellow fever. These diseases are more common in Asia, South America, and Africa than in other parts of the world. Being bitten by a mosquito will not always cause you to become unwell, but it can be irritating and uncomfortable. So, it is best to take care to avoid being bitten in the first place.

#2: Take a look at the water

Many of us take clean, safe water for granted. Just by turning on the faucet, we can have absolutely safe water to drink, cook with, wash with, and bathe in. However, there are many other countries where this basic human necessity is just unavailable, and it can cause you to become extremely ill as a result. Diseases and illnesses that have not been seen in years, such as cholera and dysentery, are rampant in locations where clean water is not available, and believe us when we say that you do not want to get infected with those!

#3: Wash your hands thoroughly

This is something you should be doing regularly anyway, but it is even more important if you want to stay healthy while traveling. Hand cleanliness is vital for preventing the transmission of infection and can significantly reduce your risks of contracting Covid-19,  diarrhea, food poisoning, vomiting, influenza, gastroenteritis, norovirus, MRSA, and hepatitis A.

#4: Keep an eye on what you are eating

Having the option to try various foods while traveling to different places is an important part of the travel experience. However, while they may be pleasing to the tongue, your digestive system may not always be on the same page. By all means, experiment with new foods, but make an effort to maintain a healthy balance so that you are not compelled to go to the nearest toilet every few minutes. Although the food you prepare at home is not always safer, your gut may be unaccustomed to certain foods and cooking methods.

We hope these top tips will ensure that you stay healthy while traveling and as such, you can enjoy exploring the world to the fullest!
